State Representative Bill Konopnicki has decided not to run for Congressional District one. It seems to me that this leaves a void in the race that's likely to be filled by State Senator Tom O'Halleran.
O'Halleran is facing tough opposition for his Senate seat and may not consider the opportunity cost of a Congressional run to be too high.
It won't be an easy race though. Sydney Hay and Ann Kirkpatrick are running hard.
Running hard? You should first mention Howard Shanker. Ann and Sydney may have the "establishment's" money behind them but Shanker is the only candidate campaigning over the entire district. He has support both on and off the reservations and across party lines.
