Tommy Harper passed away last night.
Late last week I received this update. It shows the strength that he displayed until the end and I thought you might want to read it.
I was able to spend some time on the phone with Tommy today. He's had a couple of rough days in a row, and he asked me to pass on to you all that he's had over 390 visitors in the past several weeks. What a testimony to the huge love and affection that all of you, and the community at large, hold for him and Carol. They both ask that you continue to pray for them.
He wishes he could find something that he wants to eat -- right now, Coke floats are his favorite thing and today even that didn't sound good. He didn't feel very strong today, but he is remembering to wear his oxygen more often! I'm sure you've been there and seen how he kept taking it off.
Right now, he is unable to entertain any more company. The hospice nurses have asked that he conserve his energy -- believe it or not, he's acquiescing and so he asked me to pass all of this along to you. He expressed his thanks to all of you more than once, and said he'll let us know if he feels up to visitors again. I'll be sure to keep you posted.
If you are not familiar with Mr. Harper's story, here's a link to the original post.
Mr. Harper has left us here - and those who knew him well are charged to carry on his legacy.
I have followed this journey of you and your friends, Greg. Clearly, Mr. Harper touched many lives and this world is a better place for his sojourn here.

What a gift from God. Everyone who knew him can continue to give and pass on his legacy. That's the way I feel about Bill Stout who served on the Glendale Union High School Board. He saw the best in me and I owe him forever. Sorry for your loss Greg, but glad for what you gained through Mr. Harper!

We were truly fortunate to have gems like Mr. Harper, Mr. Kuhn, and John Carlton at Catalina HS. They all challenged us intellectually and showed respect for their students as young adults. Tommy will be missed.
