The RNC has sent a cease and desist letter to the Democratic front group that is illegally using the Republican Logo to promote moderate Republicans in constested Primaries. Here's a copy of the letter.
Here's the statement by Randy Pullen.
Randy Pullen, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, today joined the Republican National Committee in demanding that an Arizona political committee stop deceiving voters by using the Republican Elephant logo in its advertising.
“A Democrat-driven interest group is trying to influence voters in the Republican primary. This advertising violates the spirit of the primary election system in Arizona, and it’s a direct insult to Republican voters,” said Pullen.
The Republican National Committee sent a letter to Protect Arizona’s Future demanding that the group cease and desist in their infringement of the federally-registered RNC trademark elephant logo. The group has used television and roadside sign advertising in a number of current Arizona campaigns.
It's obviously a great story. We'll see if the mainstream media picks it up.
Shouldn't the letter have demanded that they take down the signs?

I hope they talk to the same lawyers who represented Cafepress.com when the GOP lawyers went after them for using this "trademark." Read more : http://pubcit.typepad.com/clpblog/2008/07/can-the-rnc-for.html

Just cease and desist? How about damages here. The democrat front group has YouTube videos that have been seen thousands of times. I hope RNC steps up their quest for justice in this.

What is the problem with having the Republican symbol next to the name of a Republican? Are candidates not allowed to use their party's symbol in a primary race?
