The collapse of the mainstream media became even more apparent yesterday with three huge stories happening on the same day. I've already pointed out that the New York Times' bonds were cut to junk status by Standard and Poors.
Then the Christian Science Monitor announced it would stop printing its paper edition and become exclusively web based.
The the big news that affects Arizona is that Gannett announced another 10% layoff.
The Gannett Company, the nation’s largest newspaper chain, will lay off about 10 percent of its work force by early December, company executives said on Tuesday, a few days after Gannett disclosed another sharp drop in revenue and earnings.
So every Sunday I walk over to my local neighborhood walgreens and pick up my AZ republic. It's a tradition, not only do I get my walk in, but I get my coupons. A few weeks ago the AZ Republic offered home delivery of JUST the Sunday paper for a dollar a week. I was about to toss the offer in the recycling bin until I thought about how it was such a savings to paying the 2 bucks every week. So I signed up. Last Sunday my paper never came. So Monday morning I called. The woman I spoke with was EXTREMELY nice, but it literally took me 20 minutes on hold and then she was having computer issues the entire time... I am just amazed that they are offering home delivery for a 2 dollar retail item for just a buck and delivering it. Let's see if I actually get it at my front door on Sunday morning

Conservatives should pool their money together and buy some of these media outlets at fire-sale prices.
Imagine having more FoxNews-type media outlets.
We have so many media outlets that are biased to the left (nearly all of them), I think more mainstream outlets that lean to the right would be healthy for our democracy.

Jack,
Conservatives are dumb enough to send their children for a brain wash at Liberal institutions and pay big bucks.
Witness the Bill Ayers text for teaching students in Air Zona Norte!

It seems to me that repubs are really crying for jobs -- I mean their own jobs.
