Gannett Blog is reporting that situation at the Tucson Citizen is getting a bit rough.
I'm monitoring an unfolding drama in the final days of Arizona's oldest daily, the Tucson Citizen -- one that a reliable tipster says began Wednesday afternoon, with the unannounced arrival of two Corporate managers from McLean, Va.
Tensions already were high over the limited reprieve Gannett extended March 17 to the 80 or so newsroom-only employees at the paper. That was when two 11th-hour bidders emerged near the date Gannett had threatened to shutter the 139-year-old afternoon paper: March 21.
Having corporate Gannettoids peer over your shoulder and ask what you're writing must be really comforting for the poor souls left at the Tucson Citizen. Gannett should win a prize for inventing new ways to demoralize employees.
