The Center for Arizona Policy has scored a coup.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, now a Fox News commentator, will headline a Center for Arizona Policy event in Glendale in April.
Palin will be the keynote speaker at a CAP dinner April 24 at the Glendale Renaissance Hotel & Spa, according to CAP President Cathi Herrod. The socially conservative group led the 2008 state ballot measure banning same-sex marriages.
Palin was U.S. Sen. John McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential race. She is very popular among conservatives, but is one of the more polarizing figures in American politics.
She also is slated to be in Arizona in March to campaign with McCain as he runs for a fifth term in the U.S. Senate.
Frankly this takes some of the wind out of McCain's sails. There are plenty people who want to see Palin but don't want to write a check to McCain...and a CAP check is deductible. It will be interesting to compare the turnout at the two events.
Gosh, Cathi Herrod must have a lot of influence in order to arrange Palin as a keynote speaker....of course, we already knew that, didn't we?
She was also already coming to an Arizona Sportsmans dinner, so that's three chances to see her. I won't be paying McCain for the privilege. And who is that in the picture? Because its not Sarah Palin and I'm pretty sure its not Cathi Herrod.

Okay man, you totally switched the picture and acted like nothing happened. Now my first post reads wrong. Why you gonna do me like that?

Greg Here: RunJD is indeed right. I had the wrong picture and corrected it. But I didn't delete his comment becuase he had other stuff in there too.

Perfect. She's polishing her foreign policy experience during her visits. She lives next to Russia. Now she'll be on the Mexican border (practically). She's ready to deal with both Russia and Mexican drug lords. Should look good on her resume. (or as she calls it, that job list thingy you bet don'tcha know.)

Sarah Palin is an idiot. Anyone who went to multiple colleges for more than four years to only get a bachelor degree is an absolute moron.

I don't want to be beligerant on this, but why is Sarah Palin popular? Someone explain this to me.

McCain has plenty of money -- he isn't bringing Palin here as a fund-raiser.

Jim Torgeson: If you need an explanation there's no hope for you.

Seriously?! I think the left wing typecasting keeps her in the spotlight. I don't see why she's a big deal.

McCain is bringing Palin and Massachusetts Sen Scott Brown here not to raise money for him but to prevent them (especially Palin) from campaigning for JD. Palin and Hayworth, both not very bright ideologues, have a lot more in common than Palin and McCain.

Uh, maybe chocolate moose.

I lost all respect for McCain when he decided it was more important to appeal to the right-wingers than to have a qualified running mate. She is an idiot! Let her be a talk show host and make lots of money. Be honest: that's why she resigned before her term had ended. Quitter.

Quitter? So,you're subjected to a bogus ethics charge a week. It gets reported nationally. You muster resources for a defense, and the complaint is thrown out. This does not get reported nationally. See how this works? You can fight this forever and lose, or you can do what's best for the State, and yourself, and deny them a target. Kudos to her for good judgment, and knowing how to pick her fights - all traits of a good leader.
