By pointing out...again...that Tom is the one who took on that fight will only bring more votes his way. Thank you to the Star Ed Board!

The anti-American, pro-amnesty, pro-illegal alien, pro-socialist crowd running TUSD continue to lie through their teeth. They espouse an anti-white hysteria that does nothing to help the very groups they claim to be teaching, protecting and promoting. And the Daily "Red" Star is complicent in all the bad that TUSD is involved with. It's time for the folks in Tucson to vote out the TUSD Board and vote in some people who actually believe in America and her greatness--for all Americans. However, there is no hope for the Star.

Believe in America? C'mon, Ron, just because there are people out there who disagree with you does not mean they don't believe in America. sheesh.

By their actions and words they demonstrate they do not believe in America's greatness. They trash her at every opportunity, blame her for most of the ills of the world, even go on apology tours calling her arrogant. How else would describe their attitude?

Greg: Most Republicans claim to believe in local control of education. Maybe the "despite" was because Horne injected state government into a matter that, arguably, should be decided by local school boards (and the voters who elect them).

BTW, I don't have an opinion on whether state intervention was right or wrong. I'm just saying that, right or wrong, there's an argument to be made that state intervention was un-conservative/un-Republican. That would explain the "despite."

Greg, your spellcheck failed to catch the typo in "Revolución".

I checked into the material on TUSD's web site some time ago. There is definitely a pro-Mexican bias (not surprising) but one that fails to adequately recognize the history of other Hispanics. For example, a timeline they have lists the independence from Spain of several South American countries but has no mention at all of Central America's independence in 1821. I also failed to find any reference to Mexico's takeover of half of Guatemala's territory (now the state of Chiapas). Perhaps that is a parallel that is a little too uncomfortable.

So this course may improve the self-esteem of Mexican students (and perhaps of Mexican-American students) but would appear to do the opposite for students with a Central American background of whom there are many.

It was because Mr. Horne stopped the La Raza studies AND stopped the busing of undocumented students who live in Mexico but are bussed to Arizona to school that put him ahead. And, let's not forget, Mr. Thomas has shot himself in the foot with his unwarranted and stupid lawsuits.

Give me a break! Those three things alone put my vote in Mr. Horne's box.
