Take a look at this Facebook post by Democratic Senate Candidate Justin Johnson...and tell me what's wrong with it.
I've circled it, but it still may take you a second. He's thanking his 120 volunteers for helping him DELIVER his first MAILER. So who delivers the mail in this country? That would be the United States Postal Service. And that box in your front yard? Yep, US Government property. You can't put something in someone else's mail box an you certainly can't avoid the cost of postage by using 120 volunteers to "Deliver" your mailer for you.
Well, maybe "Deliver" is just a generic term. Maybe these were really door hangers and he simply should have used the word "distribute." Nope. His volunteers put the "mailer" right into the mail box. Here's a copy of the complaint from someone who received a "letter" sans postage from Justin plus the list of all the neighbors she talked to who also got postage-free letters. She also talked to her letter carrier who said "many" of the mailboxes contained the illegal letter.
The penalty for avoiding postage by having someone put mail in someone else's mailbox is $300 PER VIOLATION. Let's see, $300 times 25,000...Hmm, carry the one...is, approximately the gross national product of Tibet.
In addition to ripping off the US Government by illegally delivering his mailers without paying for postage, young Justin is potentially exposing himself to a larger problem. What else do you think is in those mail boxes? That's right...Ballots.
I'm not saying that Justin's team was stealing ballots. But his young and zealous team of supporters had walking lists and walking lists include voter registration information. So think of all those volunteers opening thousands of mail boxes and in hundreds of cases seeing a Republican Ballot just sitting there... That's why you aren't allowed to open someone else's mail box. I put important stuff in my mailbox and federal law protects me by making it illegal for you to open my mailbox. That's another reason why the fine is so high--it's not just that you are stealing postage from the Government, you are also messing with important documents that I trust to the postal service--including my mail in ballot.
Justin's Facebook page is a nice admission...Justin case there wasn't enough evidence already.
I'd say he's off to a great career as a democrat politician. In fact, a little jail time will help fluff up his resume.

I am a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. I have been employed there for over 27 years. No one has been this ignorant of Postal rules my entire career. How does this man hope to be a responsible legislator if he does not know such simple rules as this?

Pity his daddy isn't helping him in his campaign. Steve, I agree with you on this. That's a mistake only a newbie would make, and he has no right to accuse people of illegal acts when he can't even follow the law himself. At least HIDE your crime, Justin, don't brag about it on FB LOL

I don't understand why someone would be that ignorant? Why would someone not follow the rules too ? Sounds fishy too me .

Apparently ole Justin has not received much in the way of campaign contributions to take such a risk as this. Either that or he is actually dumber than Biden, Pelosi and Reid all crammed together. Now that dumb. Guess I wasn't on his mailing list as none of his junk has showed up here, but I will keep an eye open. Hope some one, or many some ones, will file complaints with the postal inspector. He really is as dumb as his Father, so I don't see him as much of a threat, more of just an illegal nuisance.

I wonder how many people actually received this mailer in the mailbox? I, for one, found it on my doorstep. I am guessing Justin knows that he can't rifle through people's mailboxes. Of course, it is convenient for this author, and Justin's enemies to think he is just plain ignorant. Where are the list of neighbors who also received the letter in the mailbox? Why bash Justin for reaching out to voters? I thought it was a pretty new and imaginative idea to reach out to a community. Why doesn't anybody attack him on the issues? Or are stances on issues irrelevant in politics now? We only like to discuss rumors and suspicions intended to drag down the opponent.

David, we were focused on the issues until this candidate started mudslinging. I compare the two FB sites and Linda is talking about community work and an ill family member while Justin keeps attacking because he doesn't have much to say. If he's so bipartisan why won't Aaron and Jackie even work with him? Jackie won't even put his sign on her lawn! If he can't figure out basic laws yes he is IGNORANT and doesn't deserve to be a lawmaker. If you afford him the idea that he KNEW THE LAW then he's not "imaginative", he's conducting mail fraud. I do agree it's "imaginative fraud", although you seem to think it's an awesome idea for every hack to have the RIGHT to come to our mailboxes, open them and place or remove items just because it's a "new" idea to reach the community? You're a bit ignorant, dude. We DO NOT have the right to break laws because we "think" it's a innovative way to reach the electorate. I do agree it SHOULD be about the issues, I say have people look at the issues, look at the candidate's websites, and then make their own decisions.

Dude, calling me ignorant seems a bit harsh. Especially since I offered a single example to counter the one provided in this blog (letter on my doorstep, is not illegal). And since this article extrapolated their example to every voter in the district, I will too. However, since we've now shifted to the matter of ignorance, I will respectfully point out that, even if the accusation this isblog article presents as accurate, it is NOT mail fraud. One can find out the definition of mail fraud by searching for it online! It is that easy! A brief review of United States Code Title 18, Chapter 63 shows that mail fraud does not match the crime that this article accuses Justin of committing. Rebecca Kerger must have been stumped when she couldn't find the appropriate box to mark on the form to report mail fraud. She chose misrepresentation of product/services. Interesting, I wonder how a political flier in her mail box translates to her checking that box? It almost seems as though people want to accuse Justin of fraud in order to deflect the fact that Linda Gray may have been complicit in a scheme to perpetrate voter fraud. Now, let's be honest here. Voter fraud actually happened, mail fraud did not. Did Linda Gray commit voter fraud? No. Did she know that the scheme to commit voter fraud was occuring? Did she know Jim Weier's daugther's roommate? Hard evidence suggests yes. Now, I am not saying that a letter placed sans postage in a person's mailbox is not illegal, I am just saying its not mail fraud. So let's all stop saying that.

Mr Allen may have a point about the wording but placing 25,000 pieces of mail without paying for it is hardly legal. Admitting it on FB is an admission of guilt. The act of opening a mailbox if one is not a mailman (if that's what occurred) is illegal. Fraud is probably better defined by Justin's website which is "nonpartisan" but started by $5000 donated by one man who is a crony of Justin's. That's fraud, isn't it, if the agent is a friend or acquaintance of his?

I'm calling the whaaaambulance! The kid broke the law. No true malice intended, but he broke the law.
As far as calling the placement of candidates on a ballot voter fraud?! There are plenty of unqualified candidates on ballots all over the country. I really don't care who talked them into it. If one party is crying that votes are being taken away (like they are entitled) they opught to get in touch with their constituency.
I suppose the same whiner would freal out if we actually became a 3-4 party system because votes are drawn off by the new parties?

A friend or acquaintance creating an independent expenditure for said candidate is NOT illegal. If Justin provided the friend information, strategy, or helped the friend fundraise for the IE it would be illegal. An example of illegal activity is the following. Let's say that the Arizona Chiropractic Society wanted to run an independent expenditure for a legislative candidate. In order to raise funds for this IE, the Society held an event, inviting many people in the community to donate money to the organization. The candidate is running on public funds (Clean Elections), so the individuals can no longer donate to the candidate's campaign directly. So, instead they donate to the Independent Expenditure instead. At this event, the featured speaker was the candidate! The candidate helping to raise funds for an IE supporting their own candidacy is illegal!!! This is a good and relevant example because Sen. Linda Gray did this very thing in this campaign cycle.
On another note, having candidates on a ballot is not voter fraud. However, if a candidate is on record saying that he/she is running for the SOLE purpose of drawing votes away from another candidate is voting fraud. That is according to the Arizona Constitution, which I assume our wise Arizona founding fathers included for a reason. They did not want any activity to occur for the sole purpose of confusing voters. Chris Campbell was implicated in a scheme to perpetrate fraud on the voters of District 10. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it. Read the Honorable Judge Fink's statement if you have doubts. Was Linda Gray complicit in these activities? Well, that's just for the voter to decide.

I called the Johnson Campaign today to see what they had to say? They were a young excited group and didn't seem preoccupied with all this. I actually spoke to the person who said he delivered all the letters in the neighborhood where the home in the complaint was located. He said he would sign an affidavit stating all the letters delivered in the neighborhood in question were put on the front door or on the mat. He said all volunteers in every drop were instructed to do the same. I did some further looking into the complaint, and I think it is a fake. Looks like fraud was committed, but it is Sen. Gray who defrauded you.

Ballot tampering is a huge issue. If the election is close and a bunch of Republicans check the voter file after the canvass and find out their ballot wasn't cast it will be even bigger.

I received his "personal" letter at my home. I stated no party affiliation and not a single policy position.
It seems his only qualifications are he just moved to the district, he has two good looking and expensive English Bulldogs and a one year old child. Oh, and a Daddy who's wealthy friends can finance his campaign

"...120+ volunteers W-H-O came out..."
Right, this guy is as ignorant as Mayor Appleseed.
